tem·po·ral adjective

1. pertaining to or concerned with the present life or world

Temporal Rain is an immersive space that simulates rain frozen in time and space. It is a space of tranquility, solidarity and serenity. In today’s fast paced world, there are not enough hours in a day for us to fully cherish every moment of our lives.

Upon entering the space, the user is immediately immersed into the experience as they can see, feel, smell and hear the rain. A soft mattress is located in the middle of the room for people to lay down with speakers playing gentle sounds of rainfall. The ceiling is decorated with cotton to emulate clouds, and to cover all wiring. The rain that extends down from the ceiling is created with LEDs and programmed with Arduino to illuminate softly. The walls and floor were fully covered with garbage bags to ensure the space is pitch black and to subtly reflect the the light emitted from the rain. Furthermore, actual water was spritz onto the garbage bags to infuse the element of realism to the experience.
